I am a Connecticut artist, having lived and worked in the state for most of my professional career, which has spanned more than 25 years. While I started as a fiber artist, my work has evolved and I now focus on creating highly detailed representational watercolor paintings.

In my paintings, I always try to capture the magic of the everyday by manipulating light, shadow and color, hoping to transform the mundane into the spectacular. The hidden beauty of the ordinary objects that surround us is portrayed through powerful value contrasts and vivid color interactions. By enhancing the details of everyday objects, for example crimson sprinklings on a plump green pear, the ordinary becomes the extraordinary, the often unnoticed detail becomes the focus of attention.

I want the viewer of my paintings to find the beauty in unexpected places by making the commonplace radiate with life and light.

Most of my studies in art were done at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, though I started on my path in college with a minor in Art History at NYU. I have taught watercolor techniques for the Weston Open Learning Program and offer individual classes in my home. I have had a number of solo and group shows in New York and Connecticut, and have received awards from both the Connecticut and New England Watercolor Societies, including “Best in Show.”
